About Šujica
Duvanjsko polje has been inhabited continuously since ancient times. The oldest inhabitants were the Delmatians, members of the Illyrian tribe. The center of the Illyrian tribe was the city of Daelminium, today Tomislavgrad, the capital of Dalmatia. After long and firm resistance, the Delmatians were conquered by the Romans in the early 1st century AD. Šujica was also located in an important strategic place - the road from Salona to the interior of Dalmatia led through Šujica - and today there is a Roman bridge. After the recent suffering, Shujica is recovering very quickly. The development of winter tourism is especially important in the ski resorts of the Kupres plateau, from which Šujica is only 10 kilometers away.
